FEB 2025 HONORING VARDA LEV-RAM AS OUR ESHET CHAYIL —Woman of Valor— EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Shabbat Service ~

9:30am followed by Luncheon Celebration

Varda wears “many hats”!

An Israeli-born Scientist and Artist, she earned her Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute and has been a Scientist at the UCSD School of Medicine and more recently a Visiting Scientist at the Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Medicine in Israel. She is an award-winning artist specializing in creating magnificent pieces from polymer clay and other materials with color design and inspirations often from nature. At Beth El she regularly reads Torah and Haftarah and leads our Festival Art Series. She also lends her voice to the La Jolla Symphony Choir and Shirim B’Lev. Her love is also her family including those in San Diego and Israel. Varda continues to inspire us, most recently with her founding “Anemones for Israel” (Kalaniyot)—a project creating red fabric flowers to raise awareness and funds to support physical and psychological recovery for those who experienced Oct. 7 and related traumatic events. We are so grateful she is a part of our community.
