Tikkun Leil Shavuot – Shavuot Evening of Study and Celebration
Erev Shavuot | Sunday, June 1
7:30 PM
This year on Shavuot we’ll study and discuss Torah and rabbinic texts about social and personal protest. We monitor so many debates in both America and Israel. We hold different viewpoints on important questions. In our Shavuot study and discussion, we’ll ask.
Do we have a duty to protest things we believe to be wrong? What is the extent of that duty? Do we bear responsibility for things we do nothing to stop? What else, beyond protesting, is our obligation? The importance of protesting an injustice or a transgression is emphasized numerous times in Torah and rabbinic literature. Let’s look and learn. Then, let’s ask. What do we think? What do we do?
Come for the conversation, for community, and to celebrate Shavuot with holiday blessings, symbolic dairy foods and desserts.
